Winter 2018: ‘Tis the season for ice sculptures, candy makers and a couple of inspirational young people

The Winter 2018 issue of Inside PA magazine is first available starting Monday, Nov. 12, and boy do we have a lineup for you!

Have you seen the amazingly life-like ice sculptures at area winter festivals? Read about some of the sculptors behind the arctic art, how they got started, where they find inspiration and how they handle an artsy medium that melts away.

Also, we delve into the holiday sweets scene, checking in with candymakers on how they handle the winter rush from Christmas to Valentine’s day and make our cold winter days a little sweeter.

We also check in with a pair of central Pa. youngsters who have carved out a larger following and are inspiring the world. Kylie Kuhns turned the childhood trauma of losing a sister to cancer into a cancer-crushing movement via the renowned Kelsey’s Dream nonprofit. Kylie spent the summer interning at the White House and has some inside stories to share.

We also catch up with 12-year-old journalist Hilde Lysiak, who used her tireless determination to crack local stories to develop a bigger following … co-authoring a series of Scholastic children’s books and is soon to be at the center of a 10-episode Apple TV series based on her exploits.

All of this and much more is Inside Pennsylvania!
